Noël Ngiama Makanda, known professionally as Werrason, is a Congolese singer-songwriter, composer, producer, philanthropist, and the bandleader of Wenge Musica Maison Mère.1 Often referred to as the “King of the Forest,” he is renowned for his energetic performances, powerful vocals, and innovative musical style.
Werrason’s career began in the 1980s as a member of the legendary band Wenge Musica. He later formed his own band, Wenge Musica Maison Mère, and has since released numerous successful albums, including “Kibuisa Mpimpa,” “A la Queue Leu-Leu,” and “Temps Présent: Mayi Ya Sika.”
Werrason’s music is a unique blend of soukous, rumba, and other Congolese musical styles. His songs often explore themes of love, heartbreak, and social issues. His energetic performances and captivating stage presence have made him a beloved figure in the Congolese music scene.
