Héritier Bondongo Kabeya, professionally known as Héritier Watanabe or simply Héritier Wata, is a Congolese singer, songwriter, dancer, producer, and bandleader. He is the founder of the Kinshasa-based orchestra Team Wata.1

Héritier Watanabe is a prominent figure in the fifth generation of Congolese rumba. He began his musical journey at the tender age of 10 and later joined JB Mpiana’s Wenge BCBG, where he gained valuable experience and honed his skills.

In 2015, he embarked on a solo career, signing with Obouo Music. His debut single, “Femme de Feu,” was an instant hit, establishing him as a rising star in the Congolese music scene. Since then, he has released numerous successful singles and albums, including “Carrière d’Honneur – Retirada” and “Mi-Ange Mi-Démon, Tout Simplement Moi.”

Héritier Watanabe’s music is characterized by its energetic rhythms, soulful vocals, and captivating stage presence. He has collaborated with other renowned Congolese artists and has gained international recognition for his contributions to the world of African music.
